Regulation

On the 3th November 2013 will take place the 8th edition of the Etna Valetudo Ecomarathon. The event is organized by ASD Sky Tribe and Mandala Tour, supported by Valetudo, in collaboration with Park of Etna. The aim of the competition is to promote the Etna National Park, so the course will cross the most attractive area of the highest volcano in Europe

1 - Competition features
The marathon is organized along a dirt road on the Etna northern slope, with also many single tracks and beaten paths. The total elevation gain is about 1000 meter and the total course length is 42 km. It is supposed temperature will drop around zero degree Celsius. with possible snowfalls, that is the reason why athletes must be trained and experienced in high altitude race.
2 - Regulations
Are allowed to enter Etna Valetudo Ecomarathon men and women over 18 year of age, owning valid agonistic health certificate, covering November 6, 2011. No more than 150 entrants allowed.

3 - Ways of registration
Fill in the on line form that you find on www.etnamarathon.it
The organization will not accept any e-mail registration or by telephone registration. Registration will close on 31st October 2013, or when reached 150 athletes' registrations. Only bank transfer payment accepted. It will be possible to verify your online entry on www.etnamarathon.com clicking on starting list. Only athletes who have sent the required documentation will be in the starting list.

To enter Etna Valetudo Ecomarathon is necessary:
- Fill in the on line form
- Send the payment receipt

4 - Registration fees
- 35 € for registration up to 30th of September 2013
- 50 € for registration after the 30th of September 2013

Registration fee includes
- race number
- Assistance and refreshments along the marathon
- goody bag
- personal clothes transportation from start to finish area

It is not included:
- Pasta Party at Rifugio Ragabo, finish area (15€ option to be booked and paid in advance)
- post-race transportation at 3pm from the finish area to the start point at Etna south, in order to pick up your cars (15€ option to be booked and paid in advance)
Under no circumstances are the entry fees refundable. However, the registered athletes who cannot take part to the marathon have the option to transfer the registration to another person or to transfer the registration to Etna EcoMarathon 2014.
5 - Required athletes equipment
- at least 500 ml of water
- rain jacket
- race number
Whoever found without the required equipment will be disqualified, therefore random control will be done. In case of particular weather conditions the organization reserve the right to make changes to the required equipment list.

6 - Timing
The time limit is 6 hours. Athletes who will arrive after the deadline time could not carry on Etna Valetudo Ecomarathon, they will give the numbers to the organization which will bring them to the arrival.

7 - Award ceremony
The award ceremony will begin at 2 pm at the Ragabo refuge. Prizes offered from our sponsors will be given to the first overall entrants, men and women. No money prizes.

8 - Meeting point
Starting time is fixed November 3, 2013, at 9 am from Piano Vetore (Etna south, 1760 mt). Briefing will be on the start lane at 8.30

9 - Refreshment points
There will be 2 refreshment points along the race and a 1 refreshment at the finish, supplied with water and food

10 - Bags depot
The organization will provide a runners' bag transfer from the starting point to the arrival. Bags must only contain clothes for the post-race changing. Runners can leave their own bags 10 minutes before the starting time, putting them in the bus trunk at the starting point. The organization is not responsible for the loss of bags or valuables or/and money, therefore, the organization suggestion is not to leave valuables inside the bags.

11 - Penalty and disqualification
In the following case there is a penalty rising from 5 minutes to instant disqualification:
- Failure to offer assistance to an athlete in trouble
- Intentional litter throw
- no passing at check point
- no respect of required equipment

12 - Alternative course
The organization reserve the right to change the course without notice. In order to preserve everybody's safety, an alternative course will be take in case of unfavorable weather conditions in agreement with Alpine Aid and Forest rangers.
13- Organization cancellation
The organization reserve the right to cancel the competition in case of unfavorable weather conditions, for the safety of entrants, their friends and the team. No refund allowed in case of cancellation but it is possible to transfer the registration to Etna EcoMarathon 2014.
