Etna Sky Marathon
The third edition of the Etna Sky Marathon will take place on Sunday 2nd November at 8 am. The starting point is the “Grande Albergo dell’Etna” (Nicolosi – Etna South 1720 mt.) The arrival is at Piano Provenzana (1320 mt.) on the Northern side of the Etna. At the end of the race a buffet with typical products of the Etna area will be served. In the afternoon, after the delivery of the prices to the winners, a transfer by bus will take the athletes to Etna south side (1 h 30 journey), to go back to the hotel.


Etna:
Mt Etna is the highest active volcano in Europe (3323 m). On the slopes of the volcano we find recent lava flows where no living creatures have yet settled, as well as older lava flows where groups of larches, beeches and birches are growing. Mt Etna is frequently in eruption: during the last 30 years an average of one eruption every three years has been reported. These eruptions lasted from 5 days to more than a year.
 

Program 

Friday 31/10 - Catania
Arrival at Catania and transfer by bus or car from Catania airport to the hotel in the city centre. Dinner free and overnight stay in hotel with breakfast included.

Saturday 01/11 – Etna South
Morning free to discover and to visit the city of Catania and its characteristic fish market.
14.00 Transfer by bus from Catania hotel to Grande Albergo dell’Etna.
16.00 meeting at Grande Albergo dell’Etna - Etna South
17.00 distribution of the race numbers
19.00 Briefing about the race
20.00 Dinner at Grande Albergo dell’Etna restaurant

Sunday 2/11 – Marathon
07.30 meeting at Grande Albergo dell’Etna - Etna South
08.00 departure of the marathon
13.00 buffet at the end of the marathon
15.30 price giving
16.00 bus transfer to the departure point at Etna South (1 h 30 min.)
20.00 Dinner at Grande Albergo dell’Etna restaurant

Monday 3/11 – Catania
Transfer by Public bus to Catania airport
